The Gratitude Gallery photography project with Ginny Koppenhol
February 2 @ 13:00 - 14:30
The Gratitude Gallery is a month-long project hosted by The Growing Club and facilitated by Ginny Koppenhol, a local portrait photographer with a background in mental health care.
Gratitude is a powerful practice that encourages us to switch our awareness to what we have, rather than focusing on the things we feel we lack. Using photography as part of this practice can allow us to spend a little longer in the ‘gratitude mode’ as we notice things we appreciate, and to document these aspects of our life to look back on at a later date. It also allows us to share our images with others, helping to facilitate conversation. This is an interactive and fun course and a fantastic opportunity to meet new people.
The course comprises 4 weekly online workshops, where you’ll learn phone photography and editing skills and use these to notice and record the aspects of your daily life that you feel grateful for.
At the end of the course, Ginny will also create an online gallery of your images to share more widely representing your moments of appreciation, experienced and captured.
One participant who took part in the first ‘Gratitude Gallery’ project said:
” I could have felt very anxious and stressed at the moment with everything that is going on, but my mood is stable and I have actually felt very positive. The project has contributed to this. I loved having it to look forward to every week, learning new skills and hearing the experiences of other people. Thank you!”
