Business Start Up
A 7-month start-up course for women ready to start a small business.
The Business Start-Up course (previously Roots and Shoots) is for women who are ready to start a new business. The purpose is to:
- Take women through a systematic programme of starting a solid, sustainable business
- Equip participants with the skills to run a small business
- Ensure systems are in place to make things run as smoothly as possible from day one
- Provide peer support to break the isolation and build confidence
Most small businesses fail in the first two years because the business owner does not have business skills to support their idea. Our start-up course addresses that problem to ensure participants have the skills and the support they need to launch a sustainable business.

Face-to-Face
The course is a 7-month, face-to-face programme based in Lancaster, based on the highly successful Growing Club curriculum but in greater depth.

Online E-course
Independent Learning (self-paced): £150
An online version of the course for women starting their own business, for those who don't live locally and can't make it to the face-to-face course or wish to study individually at their own pace.
It's given me a lot of business skills that I didn't even know I needed, which was really helpful.
