Business Start Up
A start-up course for women ready to start a small business.
The Business Start-Up course (previously Roots and Shoots) is for women who are ready to start a new business. The purpose is to:
– Take women through a systematic programme of starting a solid, sustainable business
– Equip participants with the skills to run a small business
– Ensure systems are in place to make things run as smoothly as possible from day one
– Provide peer support to break the isolation and build confidence
Most small businesses fail in the first two years because the business owner does not have business skills to support their idea. Our start-up course addresses that problem to ensure participants have the skills and the support they need to launch a sustainable business.
If you are looking to turn your business idea into reality or take your new business to the next level, with some extra support take a look at the Flying Start service, delivered by Selnet, to help you achieve your business goals whilst on the Business Start-Up course.

The course is a 12-month, face-to-face programme based in Lancaster. Please check the monthly session dates when booking.
The course is based on the highly successful Growing Club curriculum but in greater depth.

Online E-course
Business Start-Up Course (prev. Roots and Shoots)
Self-paced - start anytime!
A new online course for women starting their own business, crafted and delivered by The Growing Club CIC.
This course is written for those who don't live locally and can't make it to the face-to-face course or wish to study individually at their own pace.
Independent Learning (self-paced): £150
It's given me a lot of business skills that I didn't even know I needed, which was really helpful.
